Indication

- It is indicated in cases of emergency or when the patient is not drinkable. This therapy is not specific compared to steroids, when needed for active treatment, such as asthma, severe allergic reactions, post-transfusion reactions, laryngitis.

- Use in combination with other treatments in cerebral edema, in shock for various reasons.

- Steroid injections during surgery when glucocorticoid storage is considered insufficient, except for primary adrenal gland failure (Addison's disease).

- Use dexamethasone before birth in preterm labor (between 24 and 34 weeks) to promote fetal maturation (eg lung, cerebrovascular).

- Dexamethasone therapy for the treatment of pneumococcal meningitis.

- Preventing nausea and vomiting caused by cancer chemotherapy.

- Local treatment: In and around the joints in patients with rheumatoid arthritis, osteoarthritis, arthritis, prostatitis.
